CCC to Worship Offsite at

First Baptist Church of Silver Spring

On Sunday, July 28 at 11:00 AM, CCCers are invited to gather for worship at the First Baptist Church of Silver Spring (828 Wayne Ave, Silver Spring, MD 20910). This worship service will include a sermon preached by our own Pastor Matt, bringing his heartfelt message to a new setting.

This special event is part of our ongoing efforts by the Transition Team to find a suitable interim home for our congregation. The First Baptist Church of Silver Spring is one of three locations we are considering. This service offers a wonderful chance to experience worship in a different space and to see how we might fit. While we are not merging with the First Baptist congregation, this joint worship service allows us to get a feel for sharing their church home at 828 Wayne Avenue in Silver Spring. Mark your calendars and plan to be part of this special event. Let’s come together to explore new possibilities for our church community and to celebrate the strength and spirit that unites us. See you there! 

For the worshippers who choose to participate remotely, the worship service is streamed live on the church website (www.thechurchdowntown.com) beginningat 11:00 am.

We invite you to join us on Sunday, July 21st, for a heartwarming and inclusive worship service at Christ Congregational Church. Experience the harmonious sounds of the guest Trombone Quartet, uplifting hymns like “Precious Lord, Take My Hand,” and a thought-provoking sermon by Pastor Aubra Love titled “God is Building a Home.” With prayers, scripture, and moments of centering silence, this service is designed to bring our community together in faith and fellowship. Come and be a part of this sacred gathering, where everyone is welcomed and embraced in God’s love.

After worship, please join us for a special meeting of the congregation. The purpose is to ratify the purchase sale agreement with The Well Church. Please check your email for meeting details.

We are delighted to invite you to our weekly worship experience at Christ Congregational Church, where our inclusive community of spiritual seekers honors and celebrates people of all races, cultures, ages, abilities, sexual orientations, and gender identities. Join us on July 14 at 10 AM for a meaningful service, in person or on Zoom. A special moment in our service will be the commissioning of our student mission team as they prepare to serve with compassion in Neptune, NJ. We will hear scripture readings from Matthew 18:19-20 and Acts 13:1-3, followed by Pastor Matt Braddock’s sermon, “Spreading the Gospel Together.” Jessica Bland will enrich our worship with inspiring solo music. At Christ Congregational Church, we are committed to creating a space where wounds are mended, divisions are bridged, and all are welcome. Let us lift our voices and spirits together, seeking healing and reconciliation in this shared worship experience. Please join us this Sunday 10 AM at Christ Congregational Church for a spirit-filled worship service that promises to uplift and inspire. Our pastors, Matt Braddock and Aubra Love, will lead us in a celebration of faith, unity, and gratitude.

We are especially honored to celebrate our dedicated members who have been part of our church community for over fifty years. The service includes our heartfelt recognition of their enduring faith and contributions.

Pastor Aubra will share the homily, “Power Made Perfect,” exploring themes of grace and strength in weakness, followed by the Sacrament of Holy Communion, where all are welcome to partake in this sacred tradition. If you are joining us virtually, please prepare some food to bless in your own worship space.

We also invite you to participate in  supporting the church’s Deacon’s Fund, which aids members in times of financial need.

Come join us at Christ Congregational Church this Sunday June 30 at 10am for a special Social Justice Sunday service. Anne Weissenborn will speak about UCC history and current work on Middle East Peace. We will have an interactive homily with two Guest Speakers: Rev. Graylan Hagler and Dr. Philip Farah. See below for more details about the service.

Lynne Joseloff on flute and Sam Wack on piano will play “Suite Modale” (movement I) by Ernest Bloch, “Breathe on Me, Breath of God” by Robert Jackson, and “Two Arias in Rondeau” from Sonata for Flute and Piano by Jean-Jacques Naudot. Our Lay Reader this Sunday, Carlean Ponder, our Justice & Witness Coordinator, will read a Prayer of Invocation, and readings from scripture John 10:14-16 and Genesis 12, 1-3.

Please join us after worship for a special coffee hour with Middle Eastern food in the Lobby.
