CCC’s Retreat Center Open for the Season For Small Group and Family Rentals

CCC Men’s Retreat, July 17–19, 2026
Register now for 2026 CCC Men’s Retreat, July 17–19, 2026, at the CCC Retreat Center in West Virginia. This welcoming weekend offers time to step away, reconnect, and enjoy fellowship, reflection, renewal, prayer, and plenty of unstructured time together. Past retreats have included hiking, music, games, laughter, creative sharing, and meaningful group sessions β€” and 2026 will continue that spirit of community, growth, and joy. Come for the whole weekend, one night, or just for the day on Saturday. Contact the Church Office for more info or to register.

CCC/SSUMC Family Potluck and Game Night is on summer hiatus, but will resume in the Fall! Normally on the first Saturday of the month from 6-9pm in the Fellowhip Hall. 
 

CCC has the following active fellowship group, with a social focus, and new members are always welcome to join:

Exploring Faith – CCC’s Adult Sunday School Class – The Exploring Faith class recently began discussion of our new book — “Medieval Christianity: A New History” by Kevin Madigan, a professor of ecclesiastical history at Harvard Divinity School. It covers the period 600 to 1500 A.D. It is in paperback and eBook form. New members are always welcome. We meet by Zoom at 8:30 a.m. every Sunday. Contact the Church Office to get on the class email list and receive the Zoom link.

CCC Book Group – Did you know that CCC has a long-standing book group that meets periodically to discuss a book we have mutually chosen? We read novels, history, and other nonfiction books.  We convene by Zoom at 7 pm on a Sunday night. New members are welcome. To join the group, please contact: Mary Stone to get the Zoom link and get on the mailing list.

Community Outreach

Shepherd’s Table

VolunteerΒ withΒ CCCΒ atΒ Shepherd’s TableΒ in downtown Silver Spring theΒ second Wednesday evening of each month,Β 5:00 – 7:30pm. Help serve a warm meal to those in need. We are always looking for others from CCC to join!Β Contact Kate Brown for details,Β kfleisch7@gmail.com.

Food Collection

Our congregation is collecting general nonperishable food items for families in need via SSUMC’s Arleeta’s Pantry, which provides canned and dried goods on the second and fourth Saturdays of each month from 9 a.m. to noon. We will continue with this collection indefinitely. Please contact the Church Office with any questions.

Caregivers for Aging Loved Ones Support Group

The Caregiver Support Group will have the following upcoming meetings – all at 7:30pm on Google Meet: June 15, July 20 (no Heather), August 17 (no Patty), September 21, October 19, November 16, and December 21Β (all on Mondays at 7:30 pm).

The Caregivers for Aging Loved Ones Support Group is intended to be a welcoming space for those who are caring for aging loved ones to connect, share experiences, and find encouragement. The sessions include time for sharing, reflection, and discussion. Whether you are a longtime caregiver or new to the role, this group offers a supportive community for your journey. If you are interested in participating, please contact the Church Office to get connected.

Ongoing CCC Grief Support Group Via Zoom every Tuesday evening

You are invited to take part in the on-going grief support group led by Ann Marshall that meets by Zoom every Tuesday evening from 7 – 8 PM. The group is open to anyone grieving a loss, whether it is the loss of a loved one or any other profound loss. It could be the loss of a job or the losses associated with aging. Each person experiences grief differently and for different reasons. If you would like to take part in the grief support group, please contact the Church Office to get connected.

Coffee and Conversation: 2nd Thursday of every month, 9:30am – 11:00am

Join Pastor Matt and Pastor Gloria for a cup of coffee (or your beverage of choice) and casual conversation. All are welcome to attend! Riderwood Village, Lakeside Commons Classroom.
