Worship is at Silver Spring UMC!
8900 Georgia Ave, Silver Spring, MD 20910

NOTE: Worship Begins at 10:00!

On December 10th, the CCC Chancel Choir will join with the Chancel Choir at Silver Spring United Methodist Church (SSUMC), under the direction of Leona Fitzhugh, to sing Daniel Pinkham’s Christmas Cantata. We will be joined by the Monumental Brass Quintet. The Cantata will be sung during our combined 10:00am worship service.

Why are we worshipping at SSUMC?
This collaboration continues a long tradition of joint performances for our two choirs. SSUMC’s address is 8900 Georgia Avenue, Silver Spring. Please join us there at 10 AM.

Who is participating?
Along with our Choir and Music Director Sam Wack, Pastor Matt will help lead worship along with Pastor Will Green. Pastor Aubra is away this Sunday.

Is there parking?
YES, SSUMC has plenty of free parking on site!

Will there be anything going on at CCC?
There will be no in-person worship or other activities at CCC on Dec. 10. Cristian, our weekend custodian, will be onsite to help direct people to SSUMC.

Will there be an offering?
Yes. We expect there will be a chance to contribute to CCC during the service at SSUMC.

Are we merging with SSUMC?
No, simply sharing worship. Please join us for an ecumenical celebration of the holiday with another Open & Affirming church and ministry partner in Silver Spring.

Pastor Matt and Pastor Aubra invite you to experience the enchantment of Advent at Christ Congregational Church with a worship service filled with music, prayers, and reflections. The Flute Ensemble sets the tone with “In dulci jubilo,” and the lighting of Advent candles by the DaSilva family symbolizes the journey from darkness to light. Scriptures from 1 Corinthians and Mark remind us of God’s gifts and the anticipation of Christ’s arrival. The service includes a celebration of the sacrament communion with an invitation to extend the table for justice.  Embrace this transformative Advent journey where hope,  comes alive for all.

CCC Survey – Live until 12/8

CCC Survey – Live until 12/8

 https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/CCC-Fall2023

We’re at a pivotal moment in our decision making about our church property, and your perspective is crucial. This survey is a chance for you to share your thoughts on selling the church property and shaping our future. Please use the provided link or QR Code to access the survey. Whether you’ve been part of this community for years or just joined, your voice matters. Your responses will guide decisions that impact us all. Let’s make this process a reflection of our collective vision. Thank you for taking the time to contribute as we shape the
future together.

This is an online only survey that will be live until December 8 (extended deadline).

  • The Survey is set up so it can be completed more than once using the same device; laptop, PC, phone, tablet, etc. It is possible that certain devices or browser settings may prevent multiple
submissions. You may find you need to use an alternative browser, or refresh
    your browser.
  • While the survey includes a combination of rank order, multiple choice and open ended questions, it is designed to capture your individual thoughts, feelings, and perspectives. There are many open-ended questions for your thoughtful input.
  • All of the questions on the survey REQUIRE a response in order for you to move one to the next question. If you do NOT want to answer any of the open-ended questions, simply put “NA” in the comment box and move on to the next question.
  • Plan to complete the survey in its entirety once you begin. Your responses will NOT be saved if you close your browser and come back later. Make sure to press the “Done” button at the bottom of the screen when completed.
  • We estimate the survey will take approximately 15-20 minutes to complete.

If anyone, for whatever reason, has difficulty accessing or completing the survey please reach out to Dave Main (david.main316@gmail.com), Michelle Esposito (michelle.c.espo@gmail.com), or Olen Stephens (olen76@gmail.com) for assistance.

World Communion Sunday

World Communion Sunday is a day when Christians around the world come together to partake in the Lord’s Supper. It’s a powerful reminder of our global unity as members of the body of Christ.

In addition to sharing in the Sacrament of Communion, we have a joyous moment to bless the covenant between CCC and our newly appointed Executive Pastor, Rev. Aubra Love. This covenant symbolizes our commitment to walk together in faith, service, and love as we continue our journey as a vibrant faith community.

But that’s not all! We have an incredible musical treat in store for you. Mary Scott and a talented jazz ensemble will fill our sanctuary with soul-stirring song, making this a World Communion Sunday to remember.

Please join us as we break bread together, bless this special covenant, and revel in the beauty of music that transcends borders. Let us come together in unity, celebrating the richness of our faith and the strength of our community

“Only when it is dark enough can you see the stars.”

You’re invited to join us this Sunday for a service that will warm your heart and inspire your spirit. In these challenging times, we seek the Divine’s light to guide us.

Our scripture readings celebrate the magnificent lights in the heavens, reminding us of the enduring love of the Divine. The music, including “Kol Nidre” performed by Abe Laufer on the cello, will elevate our souls.

During the service, we’ll present Bibles to our young members, illuminating their hearts and minds on their faith journey.

During worship, we will explore the enduring symbolism of the North Star—a beacon of light, hope, and constancy. Together, we’ll reflect on our personal journeys and the vital role of our faith community as a guiding light in challenging times. Through personal sharing and empathetic listening, we’ll renew our commitment to being a source of hope and guidance, and ask for the Spirit’s direction as we chart our course on a new quest of renewal. We invite you to share personal stories or experiences about a time when you felt guided or found hope during challenging times. You may wish to speak about a personal journey, a moment of inspiration, or an acts of kindness within the community.

After Worship: Listening and Learning

Following our inspiring Embrace Liturgy, we invite you to a special Listening and Learning Session. This gathering will be an opportunity to delve deeper into the quest for renewal within our faith community. We’ll tell you all about Marc Kolp and Angie Dabbs from Boomerang Consultant Group, who will navigate us through part of the journey. The work with Boomerang is mobilizing this week. More information to come! Your voice and presence are invaluable. We hope you can join us.

Discover the beauty of worshiping in community! This Sunday, 9/17, at 10:30am, our service will be filled with inspiration and music that we hope will touch your soul.

During our service, we’ll offer a special blessing for backpacks, briefcases, and the new season of learning and growth they represent. It’s a reminder that every moment and opportunity is worthy of God’s blessing. Please bring a backpack, briefcase, purse, or murse if you want to take part.

In recognition of Hispanic Heritage Month, we’ll engage with the tapestry of Spanish-language congregational songs. These melodies and texts hold deep meaning and speak to the incarnation of Christ for all people. We’ll sing “Pues si vivimos” (In All Our Living), celebrating the shalom and healing love that Christ brings to our lives. We’ll also have a special prayer based on the writings of Ada María Isasi-Díaz, a pioneer of Mujerista Theology. This prayer will guide us to embrace the interconnectedness of all people and issues, reaffirming our commitment to co-create a just world.

Join us in celebrating faith, diversity, and community. We look forward to sharing this special moment with you and your family!
