This Sunday: A Conversation with Rev. Brooks Berndt
This Sunday, July 26th after worship, we’re welcoming Brooks Berndt, the UCC’s Minister for Environmental Justice, for an informal conversation about environmental justice work happening right here in Maryland.
Brooks has spent nearly a decade leading the UCC’s environmental justice ministry nationally. Before that, he served eight years as pastor of First Congregational UCC in Vancouver, Washington, where he helped lead successful campaigns to move the state off its only coal plant and block the largest marine oil terminal in the country. He led the UCC’s “Breath to the People” report identifying 100 of the nation’s top polluters and how their emissions threaten communities and children, and writes and edits the UCC’s environmental justice newsletter,
This is a chance to sit down together and talk honestly about what’s happening on the ground: local fights, local wins, and where our congregation can plug in. Join us after worship and coffee hour for this important conversation.
