Oct 4, World Communion Sunday

Oct 4, World Communion Sunday

Today is World Communion Sunday!

Join us this Sunday as we celebrate global Christian unity. Pastor Matt preaches, “Peace, Peace, When There Is No Peace,” based on the prophetic words of Jeremiah 6:13-14. World Wide Communion Sunday offers us the opportunity to share this sacred meal with Christians all over the world.

This Sunday’s bread offerings will represent the origins of a sampling of the breads from six continents, and will include:
Marraqueta (Chili/Peru)
Tortilla (Central America)
Sour dough (Egypt)
Fry bread (tribal Native American)
Corn bread (African/Indigenous Americans)
Mealie (South Africa)
Naan (Afghanistan)
Injera (Ethiopia)
Roti (India)
Soda bread (Ireland)
Baguette (France)
Challah (Israel)
Damper (Australia)
Pita (Greece)

Join Pastor Matt, Pastor LaTayna, Madison Tatum, Sam Wack and the CCC Chancel Choir, Ingrid Baynes and Spencer Clark, soloists, and Renee DeMars-Johnson, lay reader — for the second worship service in our Fall Sermon Series: Becoming Who We Say We Are.

CCC practices open communion. Anyone who seeks the love of God is welcome at the Table. Jesus shared a life for the whole world;
we seek to be as welcoming and open as he is.

After worship, as always, join us for our Coffee / Social Hour!

UCC Neighbors In Need Special Mission Offering
This Sunday During Worship

CCC is part of the larger United Church of Christ (UCC) denomination, which sponsors the Neighbors In Need (NIN) offering. This Sunday October 4 is the annual UCC Neighbors in Need offering. This offering supports ministries of justice and compassion, with one-third of the offering given to the Council for American Indian Ministries and the remaining two-thirds supporting UCC justice ministries. Starting on Sunday, you can use our CCC envelopes to donate (please designate “Neighbors in Need”), mail in a check, or go to our website and donate. You can also learn more and donate directly via the UCC website here: www.ucc.org/nin. As always, thank you for your support and generosity in helping all of our neighbors!
