Let There Be Light: Lunch & Learn on November 15th
CCC Stewards of the Earth Lunch & Learn:
Sustainability Starts at Home
Sunday, November 15th After Worship
Did you know the buildings we live in, work in, worship in, and shop in consume 35% of the total energy used in our country? The climate crisis is fundamentally an energy crisis, and we can help meet the moment with our actions at home. On November 15, CCC will host an after-worship presentation from Larissa Johnson, Residential Energy Program Manager with Montgomery County. In addition to swapping your old bulbs for up to three energy saving LEDs, learn about:
- Converting to high efficiency electric heating and cooling
- Upgrading other home appliances to cut out fossil fuels and save electricity
- Incentives available for equipment upgrades
- Everyday ways to save energy
- Balcony solar, and other initiatives to reduce your electric bill and use of “grid” electricity
- Montgomery County’s Climate Action Plan
We’ll have plenty of time for Q&A. Bring a friend or neighbor, enjoy coffee and a light lunch, and join in as we “get connected” to climate stewardship at home.
Location: Our normal worship space (The Fellowship Hall) at 8900 Georgia Ave., Silver Spring, via the side entrance on Ballard Street. There is plenty of parking, but if overflow partking is needed, it is available across Ballard Street in the Dept of Health and Human Services parking lot.
