PRELUDE, Variations on This Joyful Eastertide
Clarice Snyder    Paul Bouman

*CALL TO WORSHIP
The Middle School Church School Class

Today, during this Easter season, we remember the times when God repeats the joyful resurrection proclamation. When abilities, faded and forgotten, are channeled toward new creativity – that’s resurrection.

We gather together in the presence of our Shepherd God, who calls us each by name, who restores our souls, who leads us in the way of righteousness, and whose goodness and love never stops pursuing us. This is the God we have come to worship!

*HYMN OF PRAISE #247, My Shepherd Is the Living God

PRAYER OF INVOCATION & THE LORD’S PRAYER

Our journey through life is long and hard. We cannot make this trip alone; we must walk together on the journey. O God, you promised to send us a helper, your Spirit. Help us to see your Spirit in those you send to journey with us. In the refugee family, seeking safety from violence, let us see your Spirit. In the migrant worker, bringing food to our tables, let us see your Spirit. In the asylum-seeker, seeking justice, let us see your Spirit. In the unaccompanied child, traveling in a dangerous world, let us see your Spirit. Teach us to recognize that as we walk with each other, you are present. Teach us to welcome not only the strangers in our midst but the gifts they bring as well: the invitation to conversion, communion, and solidarity. This is the help you have sent: we are not alone. We are together on the journey, and for this we give you thanks. .We pray, in the spirit of these ancient and holy words . . .

Holy God, who art in heaven, hallowed be your name.  Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.  Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors.  Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever and ever.  AMEN

Blessed are you, God of all creation. Through your goodness, we live in this land that you have so richly blessed. Help us always to recognize our blessings come from you and remind us to share them with others, especially those who come to us today from other lands. Help us to be generous, just, and welcoming, as you have been and are generous to us.

SETTING THE COMMUNION TABLE

THE SACRAMENT OF HOLY COMMUNION

CCC practices open communion. Anyone who seeks the love of God is welcome at the Table. Jesus shared his life for the whole world; we seek to be as welcoming and open as he is. Ushers will invite you to come forward by row from the center aisle. As you approach the Table, you may take bread and then dip the bread in the cup, returning to your seat by the side aisle.

*HYMN OF GOING FORTH |LONDONDERRY AIR

We shall go out with hope of resurrection;
we shall go out, from strength to strength go on;
we shall go out and tell our stories boldly;
tales of a love that will not let us go.
We’ll sing our songs of wrongs that can be righted;
we’ll dream our dream of hurts that can be healed;
we’ll weave a cloth of all the world united
within the vision of new life who sets us free.

We’ll give a voice to those who have not spoken;
we’ll find the words for those whose lips are sealed;
we’ll make the tunes for those who sing no longer,
expressive love alive in every heart.
We’ll share our joy with those who are still weeping,
raise hymns of strength for hearts that break in grief,
we’ll leap and dance the resurrection story
including all in circles of our love.
