PRELUDE, Ubi caritas by Maurice Duruflé
Chancel Choir

Ubi caritas et amor, Deus ibi est.
Congregavit nos in unum Christi amor.
Exsultemus et in ipso jucundemur.
Timeamus et amemus Deum vivum.
Et ex corde diligamus nos sincere.

Where charity and love are, God is there.
Love of Christ has gathered us into one.
Let us rejoice in Him and be glad.
Let us fear, and let us love the living God.
And from a sincere heart let us love.

*CALL TO WORSHIP from “Life Is Sweet” by Addie Johnson
Pastor Gloria Grant

Love one another.

This is The Way of Christ.

Serve one another.

This is The Way of Christ.

Live in peace with one another.

This is The Way of Christ.

Seek justice for one another.

This is The Way of Christ.

We are called to walk, act, speak and live all of our lives with the love of Christ Jesus.

Come, let us follow The Way, let us love one another, and let us worship Christ our Savior.

*HYMN OF PRAISE #459, Come, O Fount of Every Blessing

John Wack

from “Water Moving Through Stone” by Thomas Troeger

Water moving through stone,
fire in zero cold,
wind dispersing heavy air:
blow –
awaken prayer:
come and enfold
my heart as your own.
As we gather let us claim
some stillness,
some silence.

God calls us to renew ourselves and our life’s purpose as we gather with others who are searching. We pray together saying …

Holy God, who is in heaven, hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors. Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever and ever. AMEN

SCRIPTURE READING, Genesis 1:26-28, 30b-31 (NRSV)
John Wack

The Sixth Day of Creation

God said,
‘Let us make humankind in our image, according to our likeness;
and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea,
and over the birds of the air, and over the cattle,
and over all the wild animals of the earth,
and over every creeping thing that creeps upon the earth.’
So God created humankind in his image,
in the image of God he created them;
male and female he created them.
God blessed them, and God said to them,
‘Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth and subdue it;
and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the air
and over every living thing that moves upon the earth.’
And it was so.
God saw everything that he had made,
and indeed, it was very good.
And there was evening and there was morning, the sixth day.

OFFERTORY, Prayer, text by Mother Teresa of Calcutta, music by René Clausen
Chancel Choir

Help me spread your fragrance wherever I go.
Flood my soul with Your spirit and life.
Penetrate and possess my whole being so utterly
that my life may be only a radiance of Yours.
Shine through me and be so in me
that ev’ry soul I know will feel Your presence in my soul.
Let them look up and see no longer me, but only You. Amen

Praise God, from whom all blessings flow:
Praise God, all creatures here below;
Praise God for all that love has done;
Creator, Christ, and Spirit, One.

John Wack

God, we give thanks for all your works. Accept our grateful hearts, along with our gifts. We ask for wisdom as our church determines priorities for the use of resources. As you are faithful to us. O God, may we be faithful in all things, seeking always to live by your gracious will. Amen.
