At Christ Congregational Church we give financially in gratitude for all God has given us. Our giving takes place throughout the year, through the following calls. We are financially self-sustaining; we receive no funds from the larger United Church of Christ.

Congregational Giving Opportunities

……

We give on a weekly, monthly, or quarterly basis to our Unified Budget. We fund all of our operating expenses, minister and staff salaries, and ministry expenses through the Unified Budget. Each spring we make a financial pledge to the Unified Budget, to be fulfilled through the following year (July 1 through June 30). Our annual pledges form the basis of our budget for the following year. Many of us tithe, giving 10% of income, or give a half-tithe, but financial pledges of any amount are welcome and celebrated.

……

We participate in the UCC’s Special Offerings 5 for 5 Campaign to support UCC’s mission and justice work. These five special giving calls occur throughout the year and are announced in advance. CCC is respected as one of the UCC congregations that supports all five of the OCWM calls.

……

Ad Hoc Special Collections support unanticipated and worthy initiatives that have not been included in the Unified Budget.

We give to our Deacons Fund to address discretionary pastoral needs. Deacons Fund gifts are made using the yellow envelopes in the pews. Many of us make a habit of giving to the Deacons Fund each Communion Sunday.

……

Endowment and Memorial gifts has been a blessing to CCC. Several former members have provided significant bequests, often for a specific purpose. If you want to learn more about Planned Giving, please contact giving@cccsilverspring.org.

Special Offerings

CCC is a “5 for 5” church, collecting for all four of the UCC’s special offerings and contributing to Our Church’s Wider Mission through our unified budget.

……

……

Strengthen the Church: Faithfully Building the Body of Christ—Supports church growth and leadership development in the conferences and through the national offices of Local Church Ministries.

……

Neighbors in Need: Justice and Compassion Like a Mighty Stream—Supports ministries of justice and compassion throughout the United States and Puerto Rico, including ministry carried out by the Council for American Indian Ministries (CAIM) and by the national offices of Justice and Witness Ministries.

……

Christmas Fund: Remembering Those Who Serve Our Church—Provides financial aid to retired and active ministers and their surviving spouses and children who face overwhelming financial demands.

……

CCC also supports Our Church’s Wider Mission—10% of our operating budget goes to the wider denomination to contribute to the work of the UCC.
