October 15 A Gathering to Listen and Support One Another

This Sunday after worship we will provide a time for listening and reflection on our Retreat House decision.  In order for all of us to participate without need of title or position, two facilitators will assist us through simple rituals.  In preparation, here are the four questions that will frame this gathering time:

  • What has been the biggest struggle in this issue for you?
  • If the vote does not go as you hope, what will you need from the church?
  • No matter how the vote goes, how do you hope people will treat each other?
  • Beyond this issue, what do you value of the church?

These questions acknowledge the challenge before us and also affirm us as a faith community.  I urge everyone to come and all are welcome. If you can’t join us consider setting aside some time and use the questions as a way to gain your own clarity and sense of the Spirit’s direction of all of us.

Coordinating Council Action from October 2 Meeting

Finally, I am glad to report the Coordinating Council approved expenditure of unrestricted memorial funds for acquisition and installation of an AED (automated heart defibrillator) unit in our building.  Through a generous gift and the work of the Health Ministry team we will have this life-saving device available to us for emergency use.  Kerri Hufford will be bringing more information in the near future and invitations for training.

Sunday’s around the corner; see you there!
