Cooperative Youth Ministry

Christ Congregational Church and Takoma Park Presbyterian Church (PCUSA) have combined their individual youth ministries into one cooperatively-run program. We run programs for youth in 6-12 grade, usually on Sunday nights from October through May.

Please help us with dinners. Families sign up to help feed the youths each week.

2017 Mission Trip

Cost: $400 per person

Nestled in the mountains of Webster County is the beautiful town of Webster Springs, WV. Known as the County Seat for Webster County it is also the heart and soul of the area. We will experience and meet a variety of residents from the area who come from many different circumstances and backgrounds. With a little under 9,000 residents, all of Webster County represents a neighborhood-style community, with people who care and look out for each other. Our Webster County mission trip teams will partner with local residents & ministries to meet tangible needs of the residents in the community. Most homes are very old and many residents live in trailer homes that were not built to withstand the mountain weather. This has left homeowners in dire need of home repairs they are unable to afford and created unsafe living environments for many children and families. We will help with these home repairs while building relationships with home owners and families, offering encouragement and hope that life can be better, a practical and tangible way to share our faith.  Work projects are geared to the skills and abilities of the group.Food is cooked by local residents for us each day. We will sleep on air mattresses in a church which offers showers.  Each morning, there is time set aside for devotions and quiet time. This is a valuable time and we strongly encourage all team members to spend it with God, journaling their thoughts and experiences as the days unfold. Each evening, there is time set aside after dinner for prayer, a time of debriefing and a short devotional led by the Experience Mission staff. Following this Evening Gathering, there will be time set aside for our teams to meet together to debrief, have fun, and deal with any team issues.Your Commitment:The $400 per person cost covers program costs, food, lodging and transportation. We hope to travel with chaperon-driven mini-vans. Depending on the number of participants, the success of our fundraising efforts and youth involvement, we will downward-adjust the cost of the trip accordingly. Our CYM team will work together each day and not be split up to work with other mission groups. As of right now, we are the only group signed up to work this week in Webster Springs. Please reserve your place on the team with a non-refundable $75 per person, due to Pastor Matt no later than February 5th.  Please also register using the link above.  Checks can be made payable to CCC, memo: mission trip.
