Adapted from “Ecumenical Decade: Churches in Solidarity with Women,” by Rachel C. Wahlberg

We worship God
who created woman and man in God’s
own image
who created the world
and gave all sexes
the care of the earth.

We follow the way of Jesus,
child of God
chosen of God
born of the woman Mary
who listened to women and liked them
who stayed in their homes
who discussed justice with them
who was followed and financed
by woman disciples.

We invite the Holy Spirit
as she moves over the waters
of creation
and over the earth.

*HYMN OF PRAISE    #28    For the Beauty of the Earth    DIX
Brian Holland

All that has divided us will merge and compassion will be wedded to power.
Softness will come to a world that is harsh and unkind.
And then both men and women will be gentle.
Both women and men will be strong.
And then no person will be subject to another’s coercion.
All will be rich and free and varied.
And then all will care for the sick and the weak and the old. All will nourish the young.
And then all will cherish life’s creatures.
All will live in harmony with each other and the Earth.
And then everywhere will be called Eden once again.
We enjoy the presence of God in this place as we pray together saying. . .
Holy God, who art in heaven, hallowed be your name.  Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.  Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors.  Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever and ever.  AMEN

Sarah Ingram
A Psalm from the CCC Fall Women’s Retreat

Thank you, God, for our hands
Hands that:
played in the dirt
held a parent’s hand
dressed paper dolls
found something lost
learned to sew
took care of younger siblings
did chores
played an instrument
learned to drive
got a job
held babies
changed diapers
helped with homework
held a protest sign
wrote a check
crocheted a shawl
comforted the sick
supported a friend
Thank you, Lord, for
letting us be your hands.

A revolution is coming,
a revolution which will be peaceful,
If we are wise enough,
a revolution that is compassionate,
If we care enough,
a revolution that is successful,
If we are fortunate enough, a revolution which is coming whether we will it or not.
We can affect its character; we cannot alter its inevitability.

A Psalm from the CCC Fall Women’s Retreat

I know that things will be fine.
But when will they be fine?

I am grateful for health
I am grateful for friends.

Why do I worry?
Worry provides no solution.

I know that God will give me strength,
peace of mind.
I should not trouble.

Wish to let go, have faith, allow
space for peace to grow.

Glory to God in the Highest
by Jay Althouse
The Chancel Choir

Praise God, from whom all blessings flow:
Praise God, all creatures here below;
Praise God for all that love has done;
Creator, Christ, and Spirit, One.

Brian Holland

God, help us seize each moment with passion and conviction, to act decisively, even without fully knowing the personal cost or the outcomes. Help us discern the difference between what can and should be changed NOW, and what is best left alone, at least for the time being. Help us take action today where we can make a difference.
