*Hymn of Praise (please stand)
Adeste Fidelis
arr. John Rutter

O come, all ye faithful, joyful and triumphant,
O come ye, O come ye to Bethlehem.
Come and behold him, born the King of angels.
Refrain: O come, let us adore him. O come, let us adore him.
O come, let us adore him, Christ the Lord.

See how the shepherds, summoned to his cradle,
leaving their flocks, draw nigh with lowly fear;
we, too, will thither bend our joyful footsteps. Refrain

Child, for us sinners, poor and in the manger,
we would embrace thee withlove and awe.
Who would not love thee, loving us so dearly? Refrain

Sing, choirs of angels, Sing in exultation.
O sing, all ye citizens of heaven above!
Glory to God, all glory in the highest. Refrain

Yea, Lord, we greet thee, born this happy morning,
Jesus, to thee be all glory given.
Word of the Godhead, now in flesh appearing. Refrain.

Words of Invocation and The Lord’s Prayer

To all whose lives feel like a desert wasteland, God invites: Come to the living waters. God draws close to us with compassion and the promise of healing. God speaks to fearful hearts: Be strong! Do not fear! I am with you! O healing Presence, help us respond with joy to your promises and prepare ourselves to share your good news with the hungry, needy and oppressed. We pray together, saying . . .

Holy God, who art in heaven, hallowed be your name.  Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.  Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors.  Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever and ever.  AMEN.

*CAROL OF GOING FORTH
Antioch

Joy to the world! The Lord has come;
Let earth receive her king.
Let every heart, prepare him room,
And heaven and nature sing,
And heaven and nature sing,
And heaven, and heaven and nature sing.

Joy to the earth! The Savior reigns;
Let us our songs employ,
While fields and floods, rocks, hills and plains
Repeat the sounding joy,
Repeat the sounding joy,
Repeat, repeat the sounding joy.

Christ rules the world with truth and grace,
And makes the nations prove
The glories of God’s righteousness,
And wonders of God’s love,
And wonders of God’s love,
And wonders, wonders of God’s love.
