Let’s have a large CCC contingent marching in the People’s Climate March on Saturday, April 29, to show how important it is to us to protect the world’s climate and the health of all God’s creation, and to call for real action! We can go together on the Metro, leaving from the Silver Spring Metro Station at 10:00 AM. If you’re willing to march, please contact Erin Currey, Alison Petersen, or Jim or Elizabeth Conklin. You can also go to PeoplesClimate.org to register and get more information.
Here’s the plan for the day:
11:00am: Gather in front of the Capitol Building in contingents that spell out the values we share: justice, truth, democracy, faith and more. At 12:30pm, we’ll begin marching up Pennsylvania Avenue.
1:30pm: We will surround the White House on all sides, and take powerful collective action to honor the lives at stake and make a loud sound demanding climate justice and good jobs that will drown out all of the climate-denying nonsense.
3:00pm: We will reconvene at the Washington Monument grounds to connect and share the stories that brought us to DC. Hear from the front line of the climate crisis, share solutions, with music and art that illustrates our demands and visions.
Be part of sending the message that our resistance is here to stay, and we will fight tooth and nail for our communities, raising our voices with our friends, family, neighbors, and loved ones!
