ANNOUNCEMENTS
The Annual Meeting of Christ Congregational Church will be held on Sunday, June 2nd, 2013 following the 10:30 a.m. service.
At this meeting, we will receive the annual reports of boards, committees, officers, and ministers; elect officers and new board members; adopt the budget for next fiscal year (July 2013 to June 2014); vote on an amendment to the Church’s bylaws regarding categories of membership and otherwise transact business.
Child care will be provided.

On Sunday June 2nd, during the church’s Annual Meeting, the congregation will be asked to vote on the proposed changes to Article I Membership of the CCC Bylaws. Information about the proposed changes and the motion can be found on the bulletin board outside the church office and on the church web site. Print copies are also available in the church office.
We are seeking a creative and inspirational leader to help two thriving and progressive churches develop a combined youth ministry that brings our youth and supporting adults to the "next level" of inner faith development, community involvement, and spiritual activism. This is a unique opportunity for a person of faith to serve a new community that is growing out of already existing and vibrant teen groups at two distinct congregations in the Washington, DC metropolitan area.
The Director of Youth Ministry will develop and implement a cooperative youth ministry between Christ Congregational Church -- United Church of Christ, Silver Spring, MD (CCC) and Takoma Park Presbyterian Church, Takoma Park, MD (TPPC).
Ordained and lay persons will be considered for this "non-called" position.
At CCC and TPPC, we honor and celebrate people of all races, cultures, ages, abilities, sexual orientations and gender.

We are endeavoring to update the contact information for members and friends of CCC in time for the Annual Meeting. Over the next few days, please check the contact information (street address, preferred phone number and e-mail address) that we presently have for you (in the membership list dated 3/4/13) and fill out the new green “Contact Info. Update” form that’s available in the Church Office if anything needs to be changed. Or, go to the CCC website, and fill out the online form there and it will be sent to us. We hope that we’ll be able to find you in the new Church Year!
Change of Worship Service Schedule
The final 9:00 a.m. Sunday worship service of the season will be held on Sunday, May 19th (Pentecost Sunday). From May 26th through June 9th, there will be one worship service at 10:30 a.m. in the Sanctuary. Our 10:00 a.m. Summer Worship Service begins June 16th.

If sharing a meal is a sign of Christian fellowship and hospitality, then five decades of shared meals at CCC’s Retreat House should be incredibly inspiring. And they are! When folks gather, they talk about fresh peach pies, pumpkin stew, fresh-caught fish, Swedish pancakes, overnight eggs, spinach lasagna, homemade soups, applesauce cake, grilled leg of lamb – the mouth-watering list goes on.
In anticipation of the 50th anniversary in 2015 of CCC’s Retreat House ministry, the Friends of the CCC Retreat House Committee plans to publish a cookbook. Chris Walters has signed on as collector, editor and designer with some help from some fabulous CCC cooks. We are looking for a great collection of recipes shared at the Retreat House from as many cooks as possible.
Recipes should be typed (or written legibly), one recipe per form. Recipe forms can be found on the Retreat House page on the web site, in the church office and on the Retreat House bulletin board in the Social Hall lobby. Be sure to include your name and contact information.
Please submit your recipe using this online form, or the printed forms in the church office.
Deadline: August 31, 2013.
We are also looking for good quality, high-resolution pictures to include in the cookbook. Please identify any people in the picture and, if possible, the year when it was taken and either email them or put them in the envelope in the church office.
