Congregational Giving Coordinator
At Christ Congregational Church we give financially in gratitude for all God has given us. Our giving takes place throughout the year, through the following calls. We are financially self-sustaining; we receive no funds from the larger United Church of Christ.
Congregational Giving Opportunities
We give on a weekly, monthly, or quarterly basis to our Unified Budget. We fund all of our operating expenses, minister and staff salaries, and ministry expenses through the Unified Budget. Each spring we make a financial pledge to the Unified Budget, to be fulfilled through the following year (July 1 through June 30). Our annual pledges form the basis of our budget for the following year. Many of us tithe, giving 10% of income, or give a half-tithe, but financial pledges of any amount are welcome and celebrated.
We participate in the UCC’s Special Offerings 5 for 5 Campaign to support UCC’s mission and justice work. These five special giving calls occur throughout the year and are announced in advance. CCC is respected as one of the UCC congregations that supports all five of the OCWM calls.
Ad Hoc Special Collections support unanticipated and worthy initiatives that have not been included in the Unified Budget.
We give to our Deacons Fund to address discretionary pastoral needs. Deacons Fund gifts are made using the yellow envelopes in the pews. Many of us make a habit of giving to the Deacons Fund each Communion Sunday.
Endowment and Memorial gifts has been a blessing to CCC. Several former members have provided significant bequests, often for a specific purpose. If you want to learn more about Planned Giving, please contact email@example.com.
Recent mass shootings remind us again that we must act to preserve the safety and security of our Sanctuary and Sunday school. Montgomery County recently awarded CCC a $7,000 grant to make several security improvements to our building and grounds. The grant terms require us to provide matching funds, and we are calling for contributions to help us meet that match.
You may make a donation toward the Security Grant match by clicking the Donate button above, or by placing a check in the Sunday offering, with the notation “Security Grant” written in the memo field.
Funds received that exceed the $7000 match will be used for additional planned security improvements that are not funded by the grant.
