Christ Congregational Church is a place where senior adults are a vital part of all aspects of congregational life. Our ministries are designed with and by senior adults. We aim to support new opportunities for learning, growth, fellowship and serving through a variety of programs. Planned by the Senior Adult Committee, these programs include discussion groups, seasonal lunches, day trips and movies. Our “Third Thursday” discussion group engages in topics such as “Fear and the Aging Process” and “Gifts: Received and Given.” We offer occasional educational seminars such as “Transitioning to a Retirement Home” for senior adults and their children. We also offer opportunities for seniors to record their Oral History on DVD. The committee promotes special annual endeavors such as a senior-led worship or overnight retreat. We seek opportunities for intergenerational sharing, missions and fun. On the second floor we provide a variety of resources for senior adults, near our informational bulletin board.
CCC members who reside at Leisure World and Riderwood gather periodically for lunch and fellowship. “Sisters for Sisters,” a support group for single and widowed women, meet once a month. Two on-going Life Review groups also meet regularly.
