Board for Church Life

The Board for Church Life coordinates and initiates church events and activities that enhance our opportunities to know and enjoy one another. The Board plans several special events each year such as church-wide picnics, a family Halloween party, the Advent Wreath workshop, Christmas caroling and the Beach and Winter weekends. The Board continues to look for new ways to bring CCC members and friends together for fun and fellowship. The Board welcomes your involvement as a member of the Board, or as a volunteer on Board projects.

Board of Church Life Events

The BCL is charged with coordinating events and activities that enhance the sense both of community within the church and of knowing and enjoying one another.

Below is a listing of many of our “regularly scheduled” events.

Weekly
Coffee Hour: After the 10:30 Worship Service, come downstairs to the social hall for a cup of coffee, tea or punch and nibble on some treats while getting to know our CCC family and friends better. All are welcomed!

February
Presidents’ Weekend is Winter Weekend: Enjoy the opportunity to get away for some winter fun like skiing, tubing or making snow angels with CCC members and our friends from the Washington Ethical Society at Camp Soles in Pennsylvania . Join the fun for one night, two night or all three. Signs will be posted for sign-up in January.

Valentine’s Dance: Put on your dancing shoes and dress up a bit as young and old dance the night away in the social hall while our own Chuck O’Connor’s Big Band fills the night sounds from the 1940’s with jazz vocalist, Terry Strand. Light refreshment served.

April
50th year Members Recognition: In April (date to be determined), we honor our senior members who have been at CCC for 50 years or more with a special worship service and light fare in the social hall afterwards.

May
Mother’s Day: We honor all the women of our church with flowers.

Graduation Sunday Day: (usually late May or early June – date to be determined) We recognize all those graduating from high school, college, and graduate school.

June
Father’s Day: We recognize all the men in our church and treat them to donuts during Coffee Hour.

August
Beach Weekend: (usually the 3rd weekend but can vary) A weekend of fun in the sun at Bethany Beach, DE at the Christian Church Conference Center .

September
Church-wide Picnic in coordination with Rally Day: This event is held on the first Sunday that church school resumes after summer break. It is held immediately after the 10:30 service in the social hall. Come enjoy the fellowship.

October
Halloween Party: The social hall is transformed into a delightful carnival atmosphere with witches and goblins playing games and fishing for treats and prizes along with the donut eating contest (no hands, please), the famed mummy wrap and the parade of costumes; all culminating with an pipe organ concert!

December
Christmas Caroling: (usually mid-December) Calling all soloists and joyful noise-makers! It’s time to make a joyful noise and sing your favorite Christmas carols as we serenade some of our senior CCC members. Enjoy holiday treats and warm beverages at the church afterwards.

Advent Wreath Workshop: Join us after the 10:30 service on the first Sunday of Advent for a soup luncheon and all the makings for your own family’s advent wreath. Holly and evergreen clippings needed!
