*CALL TO WORSHIP
Pastor Matt Braddock

written by John van de Laar, www. sacredise.com

In every place and every time, in every relationship and every interaction,
You are God.
You are God to the poor and to the wealthy,
to the weak and to the powerful;
You are God to the believer and to the doubter,
to the religious and to the atheist;
You are God to the courageous and to the fearful,
to the fighter and to the peacemaker;
You are God to the leader and to the follower,
to the parent and to the child;
You are God to all,
and Your grace and love extends to all.

And while we may seek to keep You to ourselves,
while we may try to hoard Your blessings,
You have come to all, You are available to all,
and all who want You will find that You are there.
We praise You that our small self-interests are not enough
to keep You from being the great and all-embracing God that You are.

PRAYER OF INVOCATION & THE LORD’S PRAYER
Ann Marshall

by Thom Shuman, www.lectionaryliturgies.blogspot.com

When we walk the dusty desert of desolation,
You refresh us with showers of grace.
When our lives lie in ruined rubble,
You come and build a foundation for us out of love and faith.
Spirit, you are our Life. God in Community, Holy in One,
our Hope, our Joy, our Life, hear us as we pray, saying . . .

Holy God, who art in heaven, hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors. Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever and ever. AMEN

THE SACRAMENT OF BAPTISM

Baptism is the church’s way of celebrating and naming the grace of God living in all of God’s children. It is the way we initiate new members into the life of the universal community of faith. It marks the entry point into the life-time pilgrimage of following in the Way of Jesus. Today we baptize Lillian Karin Arenas, daughter of Helen Chabot and Guillermo Arenas. Lillian was born on April 9, 2016. Lillian’s godparents are Marie Svanberg and Daniel Arenas. We also baptize Julian Enrique Santolalla, son of Diana Arenas and Giancarlo Santolalla. Julian was born on April 23, 2015. His godparents are Diego Arenas and Ana Tello.

Introduction

Addressing Parents

Do you desire to have Lillian and Julian baptized into the faith and community of Jesus Christ?
We do.

Will you encourage Lillian and Julian to learn from the wisdom of the prophets; doing justice, loving mercy, and walking humbly with God? Will you foster for your children an appreciation for the life and teachings of Jesus in concert with an appreciation for diverse religious traditions? Will you journey with your children to discover the wonder of God’s love made visible here this day?
We will, with the help of God.

Question to the Congregation
The Deacons

Jesus calls us to welcome children into the full life of our community, opening our table and hearts to those most vulnerable, offering the wisdom of the ages to all who hunger for truth. Do you, who witness and celebrate this sacrament, promise your love, support, and care to Lillian and Julian as they live and grow in this Christian community?

As your sisters and brothers in the universal Christian church, we join with you in the covenant you make this day, here in the presence of God. We promise our support as you nurture Lillian and Julian in the ways of life and faith. We promise to help guide Lillian and Julian in the ways of Christ’s justice and compassion. We pledge to create a safe, supportive community where they will be able to grow in the Spirit’s joy and wisdom.

OFFERTORY, All Nature Sings
Chancel Choir

All nature sings, a song of praise to God on high.
All living things, God’s power and greatness testify.
From snow-capped mountains tall to fragile flowers small,
with all creation, let us sing our song of praise.

Alleluia. Alleluia.
All earth and heaven ring: “Alleluia.”
Alleluia. Alleluia.
With all creation, sing: “Alleluia.”

From meadows green to clouds that float on azure skies,
from steep ravines to raging seas, the songs arise.
Sometimes with shouts so strong, sometimes in quiet song,
with all creation, let us sing our song of praise.

*DOXOLOGY LASST UNS ERFREUEN

Praise God, from whom all blessings flow:
Praise God, all creatures here below; Alleluia! Alleluia!
Praise God for all that love has done;
Creator, Christ, and Spirit, One. Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia!

*PRAYER OF DEDICATION
